Two More Qualify for NCAA Regionals in Men's Track

ORLANDO, Fla. (3/23/09) ? The Princeton men's track and field finished out its spring break in Florida competing in the Walt Disney World Invitational on March 18-21 at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex.
Juniors Eric Plummer and Chad Faulkner both qualified for the NCAA Regional. Plummer threw the shot put 17.04 meters, while Faulkner cleared the pole vault at 5.05 meters.
The two qualifiers from the weekend bring Princeton's total number of athletes competing in the NCAA Regional to seven. They include: Plummer, Faulkner, Alex Pessala, Craig Pearce, Joel Karacozoff, George Abyad, David Slovenski.
Also competing were freshman Patrick Park and senior Tim Lanni in the shot put. Lanni placed third with a throw of 15.45 meters with Park following at 15.25. Besides Faulkner in the pole vault, freshmen David Slovenski and Derek Hynes each cleared 4.75 meters, and senior Steve Slovensi reached 4.45.
Sophomore Mike Eddy won the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 47.62, followed by freshman Austin Hollimon at 47.96. Junior Brian Li-A-Ping and freshman Ricky Kearney also reached the finals, finishing fourth and fifth.
The Tigers earned places 1-5 in the 10,000-meter run with senior Michael Maag leading the pack with a time of 31:02.47. Freshmen Brian Leung and Donn Cabral were right behind at 31:02.61 and 31:02.67. Seniors Peter Bartlett and Cameron Marantz came in at 31:23.02 and 31:31.91.
A handful of runners competed in the preliminaries in the 100- and 200-meter dash.
Princeton will be in action again on April 3-4 when it hosts the Sam Howell Invitational.
