Baseball Takes Series at William & Mary With 10-5 Win

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The Princeton baseball team used a seven-run second inning to pull ahead of William & Mary early in a 10-5 over the Tribe on Sunday afternoon at Plumeri Park. Junior Brian Berkowitz and freshman Sam Mulroy each homered and drove in multiple runs in the win.
Berkowitz, Mulroy and junior David Hale each had multiple hits in the win. Two of Hale's three hits went for extra bases as he doubled and tripled, while Mulroy added a double and a homer and drove in two. Berkowitz hit a two-run homer and later singled in a run for the Tigers.
Princeton put the game out of reach early on when it pushed a season-high seven runs across the plate in the top of the second inning. The Tigers send 10 batters to the plate in the inning and garnered the seven runs on six hits. After a leadoff double from Hale, Berkowitz belted his second home run of the season to put his team up 2-0. After a single and a walk, Mulroy delivered a double to plate a run. A wild pitch and a groundout built the lead to 5-0, then senior Dan DeGeorge and Hale batted in runs to complete the seven spot.
The seven runs gave the Princeton pitchers all the support they needed. Junior Langford Stuber pitched five innings allowed three runs on five hits. He fanned seven in the outing to record the win. Junior Jon Broscious and sophomore David Palms added scoreless appearances in relief, while sophomore Matt Grabowski surrendered a two-run homer in the ninth.
The Tigers added three runs over the sixth and seventh innings. In the sixth, Mulroy hit a leadoff home run and I the seventh, Berkowitz singled home a run and then sophomore Matt Connor plated Princeton's 10th run with a sac fly.
Princeton improved to 3-2 overall with the win as it took the four-game series at William & Mary with three wins. The Tigers begin their Spring Break trip next weekend with doubleheaders at Norfolk State on both Saturday and Sunday.
