Faulkner Takes Second, Abyad Earns Two Top-5 Finishes After Day 2 at the Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA (4/24/09) ? Junior Chad Faulkner took second place in the Eastern pole vault, clearing 5.00 meters, as the Princeton men's track and field team concluded the second day of competition at the Penn Relays on Friday, April 24 at Franklin Field.
Sophomore George Abyad finished in the top five in both
events he entered. He placed fourth in the college discus, launching the discus
out 50.93 meters. In the Eastern shot put he took fifth, with a throw of 16.53
meters. His 16.53 meters in the shot put is a personal best, breaking his previous mark of 16.49.
In the same event, freshman Patrick Park was 15th and senior Tim Lanni was 20th with throws of 15.24 and 14.44, respectively.
Junior Eric Plummer also earned high marks in the shot put, recording a throw of 16.38 meters to finish fifth in the college shot put.
Junior Joel Karacozoff competed alongside Abyad in the discus, and reached 46.05 meters.
In the Eastern high jump, junior Ian Fox cleared 2.04 meters for seventh place, while sophomore Dion Lehman reached 6.79 meters in the Eastern long jump for 12th place.
The Tigers finished fifth in the 4x400 heptagonal race, clocking in at 3:17.50. Cornell won the event in a time of 3:14.65. The 4x100 relay team was seventh in the eighth heat, crossing the line at 43.16, which placed them 59th among the 88 teams competing.
Princeton will run the Championship of America 4x800, and compete in the championship pole vault, the college and championship hammer throw and the college javelin tomorrow.
