The Class of 1984 Plaque: Penn & Dartmouth

Sixth-Ranked Open Women Sweep Penn, Dartmouth For Class of 1984 Plaque
April 25, 2009 | Women's Rowing - Open
The sixth-ranked Princeton open women bounced back from a loss at Yale last weekend to sweep both Penn and Dartmouth on the Schuylkill River for The Class of 1984 Plaque. Princeton is now 8-2 on the regular season and finishes its Ivy League schedule with a 6-1 record.
After an impressive showing last weekend against the No. 2 Yale Bulldogs, Princeton was looking to continue building momentum towards the EAWRC Championships on May 17 at Cooper River in Camden, N.J. The first varsity took care of business in 6:37.3, a time that was nearly six seconds faster than the second-place time of 6:43.1 by Dartmouth. The host Penn 1V placed third in 6:54.3.
Princeton took five boats in total to the Schuylkill River, and each came home victorious. The Princeton 2V won in 6:49.0, which defeated Dartmouth by 3.2 seconds, while the Tiger varsity four finished in 7:36.2, ahead of Penn's second-place time of 7:42.0. Princeton had two more fours compete during the regatta; the B4+ won by 13 seconds with a time of 7:48.6, while the C4+ finished in 8:09.5 to win by more than 45 seconds.
Princeton will head down to Cooper River next weekend to compete for the Metro Cup. It will give the Tigers a chance to familiarize themselves even more with the Cooper River course, since both Eastern Sprints and the 2009 NCAA championships will be held there.
