PHILADELPHIA (4/25/09) ? The Princeton women's track and field team wrapped up day three of the Penn Relays and compted in The College of New Jersey Invitational on Saturday, April 25.
The Tigers were no match for Tennessee in the Championship of America 4x800, as the Lady Volunteers set a U.S. record with a time of 8:17.91. Brook Russell, Alex Smith, Alex Banfich and Libby Bliss gave Princeotn an eight-place finish with a time of 9:06 flat.
Over in Ewing, N.J., sophomore Thanithia Billings won the hammer throw with a throw of 44.16 meters, marking her best toss of the season. Freshman Alyssa Pehmoeller threw 42.79 meters for fourth place.
Sophomore KC Wade medaled in the high jump, reaching 1.66 meters for third place.
Freshman Michelle Yousefian posted a time of 2:20.65 in the 800, to finish in fifth place. Also taking fifth was sophomore Lauren Barber in the 100-meter hurdles. Barber crossed the finish line at 14.85. Classmate Bianca Mathabane came in at 15.09 to take seventh in the event. Over in the 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Katherine Sirico turned in a seventh-place performance recording a time of 1:08.02.
Freshmen Danielle Glaeser and Jessica Johnson both earned top-10 finishes in their respective events. Glaeser clocked in at 26.60 in the 200, while Johnson had a time of 1:02.61 in the 400.
Princeton hosts the Elite Meet next Saturday, May 2 at Weaver Stadium.
