May 13, 2009 | Men's Basketball
PRINCETON -- Princeton assistant coach Scott Greenman will spend part of his July leading the U.S. youth basketball team at the Maccabi Games in Israel.
Greenman has been an assistant at Princeton for two years following a stint as a player in the Israeli basketball league and a Princeton career that wrapped up with a unanimous first-team All-Ivy League honor in 2006.
Greenman will lead a team of 12 in competition against Jewish athletes from other countries in an event that will run from July 12-23. To qualify for the youth team, players had to be born in 1991 or 1992. Greenman will be assisted on the staff by Jordan Marks, a Pitt alum who is the director of basketball operations at Robert Morris in Pittsburgh.
The event has attracted some notable names for the open basketball competition as the U.S. team will be coached by Bruce Pearl, the Tennessee head coach, with ESPN radio personality Doug Gottlieb as one of the assistant coaches. Penn guard Zach Rosen will be on the open team.
