November 04, 2010 | Men's Cross Country
NEW ORLEANS (11/4/10) - The Princeton cross country teams continue to be ranked in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national poll after sweeping the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships.
The men's team moved up one spot to No. 17. Last year's national champion Oklahoma State became the new No. 1 taking over for Stanford, which won the Pre-National in mid-October. The Tigers remain first in the Mid-Atlantic regional poll. Penn State, the host of this year's regional, moved up to second, Villanova to third while Georgetown falls to fourth.
The women's team dropped one spot to No. 19 in the national poll, despite handedly winning the Heps title. The Tigers remain third in the Mid-Atlantic region, behind national No. 1 Villanova and Georgetown.
Princeton will spend the fall break training for the Mid-Atlantic Regional. The Regional will take place at Penn State on Saturday, Nov. 13. The top two teams automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships.
