Baseball Team Swept in Doubleheader at Navy

Game 1 (Box Score)
Navy took the opener by a 5-3 score, taking a lead in the third inning with two runs. Navy extended its lead to 5-1 before the Tigers scratched out two runs in the top of the seventh in the seven-inning contest.
Sam Mulroy led Princeton with three hits in the game and scored a run. Both Matt Connor and Andrew Whitener had two hits in the game and both drove in a run, along with Jon Broscious.
Princeton took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Broscious doubled home Noel Gonzales-Luna, but a two-run single by Steven Soares gave Navy a 2-1 lead after three. The Midshipmen added a single run in the fifth inning and two in the sixth before Princeton cut the lead in its final at-bat. Connor and Whitener each had run-scoring singles in the inning, but the game ended with two on when Alex Flink grounded out.
Matt Bowman allowed three runs on nine hits in five innings and took the loss. John Mishu pitched the final inning. Sam Long got the win for Navy.
Game 2 (Box Score)
Navy used a six-run eighth inning to break open a tie game and take the nightcap from Princeton 10-4. Princeton scored the game's first four runs in the fourth inning, but Navy got three of those back in the bottom of the same inning.
Brian Berkowitz and Mishu each had two hits in the loss, while Brandon Elnglert drove in a pair of runs.
The Tigers went on top with four runs in the fourth as the first five batters of the inning all reached base with a combination of three singles and two walks. Mishu singled home Berkowitz for Princeton's first run and a single from Englert plated two more runs and Whitener drive in the final run with a sac fly.
Navy got three runs back in the bottom of the fourth on Mike Hoosier's three-run home run. The Midshipmen then evened the game at 4-4 when Kendal Bolt led off with a triple and scored on a groundout. Navy then went ahead with a six-run eighth inning. The big hit in the inning was a bases-loaded double by Jonathan Berkowitz that cleared the bases and put Navy up 7-4 at the time.
Ryan Makis took the loss in relief, allowing two runs in a two-thirds of an inning of work. Starter Langford Stuber allowed four runs on seven hits in six and two-thirds innings.

The sweep leaves Princeton 3-10 overall. The Tigers and Navy conclude their series on Sunday afternoon.
