Worthen Sets Record Becoming ECAC Pole Vault Champion

BOSTON (3/7/10) - Freshman Tory Worthen became the ECAC Champion in the pole vault on Sunday, March 7 on day two of the ECAC Division I Track & Field Championship held at the Reggie Lewis Center.
Worthen cleared 4.11 meters (13-05.75) which is a new ECAC record. The previous best was 4.10 meters set twice in 2001 and 2002. This is also a personal best for Worthen who has reached the 4.00 meter-mark twice this season.
Junior Thanithia Billings took third place in the shot put, throwing to 14.37 meters (47-01.75). She also competed in the weight throw, reaching 15.44 meters (50-08.00).
Sophomore Eileen Moran was a finalist in the 60-meter dash, from the starting number of 20 competitors. She ran a 7.80 in the preliminaries and shaved 0.09 seconds off her time in the semifinals at 7.71 to become on of the final eight to run in the finals. She finished sixth in the finals with her best time of the day at 7.68.
Sophomore Danielle Glaeser ran a 57.40 in the 400 preliminaries, and went on to run in the 4x400 with Moran, and freshmen Joie Hand and Melissa Zajdel where the group clocked in at 3:50.09 in the prelims.
Freshman Erin Guty competed in the long jump where she reached a mark of 5.21 meters (17-01.25)
