Women's Track & Field Holds Annual Team Banquet

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/13/10) - The Princeton women's track & field team held its annual team banquet on Tuesday, May 12 at Charter Club, and honored its six seniors: Christine Brozynski, Liz Costello, Alexa Glencer, Amanda Hudson, Aundeah Kearney and Reilly Kiernan.
After head coach Peter Farrell spoke about the season, celebrating the accomplishments and records set by members of the team, he discussed the concepts that define Princeton women's track & field.
Murray Peyton, longtime official of Princeton home track meets, presented the Reach Award to four senior recipients: Costello, Kearney, Glencer and Kiernan.
Farrell and assistant coach Ed Roskiewicz announced the Coaches Awards, given to the standout in each event.
The Outstanding Freshman Award was given to pole vaulter Tory Worthen. Earning the Most Improved Performer (Running) Award were sophomores Alex Banfich and Eileen Moran; and the Most Improved Performer (Field) Award was given to juniors Thanithia Billings and Emma Ruggiero. Billings was named awarded the Most Valuable Performer Award, given to the team member who contributed to the most points towards the team total during league meets; while junior Ashley Higginson garnered the Most Outstanding Performance Award. The Relay Award was given to Glencer.
The Nancy Kraemer Women's Track Award was presented to Kiernan. It is awarded annually to the member of the Princeton women's track team who in perseverance, dedication and leadership has contributed most to the sport.
Kiernan along with Higginson were named the recipients of the Myers Award. It is awarded annually to a members of the Women's Track Team who have distinguished themselves in scholarship, athletic performance and character.
Before each senior spoke, voting for next year's team captains took place. Earning the honors of captaincy for 2010-11 are Higginson, Billings and junior Brooke Russell.
