McCullough Hits Program Record in Hammer Throw at IC4A, the Top Mark in the East

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/15/10) - Freshman Conor McCullough won the hammer throw to highlight day two of the 2010 ECAC & IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Weaver Stadium.
The rookie thrower launched the hammer to 70.78 meters, a mark he reached twice during his six tries. His mark is a new personal best as he maintains the top spot in the East region and third-best mark in the nation. The next competitor was 8.43 meters short of McCullough's mark, which is a program record.
Junior Craig Pearce took fourth in the same event, reaching 60.64 meters. Teammate George Abyad finished sixth in the discus throwing to 49.63 meters.
Sophomore Derek Hynes cleared 4.90 meters in the pole vault to finish in sixth place.
Tomorrow the Tigers will compete in the high jump and the shot put. Seniors Justin Frick and Ian Fox will take on the high jump at 1 p.m., while Abyad and Eric Plummer tackle the shot put on the other end of the field at 1 p.m.

Freshman Tory Worthen reached 3.87 meters to take second place in the pole vault, as New Hampshire's Rita Ciambra took the title from Worthen, who won the ECAC indoor title, clearing 4.05 meters.
Junior Emma Ruggiero threw 55.27 meters to take seventh in the hammer throw.
The 4x800 relay qualified for the finals, which will be held on Sunday at 2:40 p.m. The group of Greta Feldman, Alexis Mikaelian, Michelle Yousefian and Mel Newbery ran in a time of 9:01.08 in the preliminary round.
Also competing tomorrow will be junior Thanithia Billings in the shot put at 10 a.m.
