Men's Cross Country Looks to Defend Ivy League Title

PRINCETON, N.J. (10/26/11) - The Princeton men's cross country team looks to defend the title on its home course when the Tigers host the 2011 Ivy League Heptagonal on Saturday, Oct. 28 at West Windsor Field.
The men's race starts at 11 a.m., followed by the women's race at 12 p.m.
The Tigers have won four Ivy League titles in the last five years and is coming off of a 12th-place finish at the NCAA Championships. The Tigers return the top individual champion from 2010, senior All-America Donn Cabral. Cabral's winning time was 24:03.8,the second fastest time in Heps history and 11 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Princeton's No. 2 senior All-America Brian Leung also returns after a fifth-place finish at Heps last year. A number of runners look to fill the shoes of last year's 3-4, Kyle Soloff and Mark Amirault. Max Kaulbach, Alejandro Arroyo Yamin and Joe Stilin were the 5-6-7 for the Tigers last year. Other contributors include senior Peter Maag and sophomores Chris Bendtsen and Trevor Udland who have been scorers for the Tigers this fall. Freshmen Eddie Owens and Sam Pons also look to finish high.
Princeton is ranked ninth in the nation, the highest ranking for the Tigers since 1998. Princeton's biggest competition remains Columbia. Columbia is ranked 28th and nudged Princeton by one point to take the title in 2009. The Lions finished third last year with four of its five scorers being seniors.
