Quinn, Rudnick Guide Volleyball To Road Win, Weekend Split

One night after its first Ivy League loss of the season, reigning All-Ivy players Cathryn Quinn and Lydia Rudnick made sure there would be no losing streak for Princeton. The pair accounted for 35 kills in a 3-1 road win at Cornell.
Quinn recorded 18 kills, five blocks and four assists in the 25-20, 25-14, 23-25, 25-23 victory at Cornell. Rudnick, completing her best weekend of the season, added 17 kills, 29 digs and five blocks for the Tigers, who remained tied for second place with the win.
Princeton is now 4-1 in the league, sharing second with Columbia, which earned a 3-2 home win over Penn. Both trail Yale (5-0) by one match; the Bulldogs won their fifth straight Ivy home match Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Harvard. After Yale, Princeton and Columbia, no other Ivy team has a winning league record.
Princeton got six kills from freshman Sarah Hanna, while both Jennifer Palmquist and Chelsea Parker had five apiece. Freshman setter Ginny Willis paced the offense with 45 assists, while senior libero Hillary Ford added 23 digs. Freshman middle Tiana Woolridge made her starting debut in an Ivy match with four kills and eight blocks.
After solid wins in the first two sets, Princeton dropped a 25-23 decision in the third set. The Tigers, already 3-0 in league play in five-set matches, was nearly forced to play another fifth, but Rudnick came up with back-to-back kills at 23-23 in the fourth to clinch the win.
Princeton will have an opportunity to play for first place next Friday night when it hosts Yale at 7 p.m. at Dillon Gym.
