Princeton Pair Take on NCAA Women's XC Championship; Three Named All-Region

PRINCETON, N.J. (11/17/11) – Senior Alex Banfich and junior Alexis Mikaelian of the Princeton women's cross country team will be race in the 2011 NCAA Championship on Monday, Nov. 21.
Banfich, Mikaelian along with junior Greta Feldman captured All-Region honors by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their top-25 finishes at the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
Banfich has competed at nationals every year for Princeton. She earned All-America status last year finishing 20th overall and first for Princeton. In 2009 she was 43rd and in 2008 she was 49th.
Mikaelian was a scorer for Princeton last year, finishing 195th overall, when the Tigers finished 15th as a team. She was the second Tiger across the line at Regionals and third at Heps this year.
The 6k race will be held on the LaVern Gibson Championships Course in Terre Haute, Ind. The race will begin at approximately 12:58 p.m. A live webcast of the championships will be broadcast from 12-1:30 p.m., on NCAA.com.
Select runners will compete in the 2011 ECAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The ECAC Championship Division 5k-race starts at 10:30 a.m. Princeton is one of 13 teams in the race which includes: Columbia, Duquesne, Georgetown, Iona, James Madison, La Salle, Liberty, Navy, St. Joseph's, Syracuse, Villanova and William & Mary.
