Brian Leung didn't have the All-American finish that he wanted to his final cross country season at Princeton University, but he did handle it in an All-American way.
"I'm looking at it as a huge learning process," said the former West Windsor-Plainsboro South standout. "This year, more than anything else, I had to go through more to learn about myself.
"I've evolved, I think. I'm no longer that guy that gets angry after every race that doesn't go my way. Today was the calmest I've been."
Leung wasn't happy to place 166th at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Monday. He was the fifth Tiger finisher as the men came in 19th, but he handled his disappointment with class.
"I did the best I could today," said Leung, a PU senior. "That's something I've learned to accept. There's a great quote I found online - 'Perfection isn't necessarily coming across the finish line first. It's telling your teammates that you did everything in your power you could.' "Although I felt I let them down, I couldn't have done more. I hope they can see that as well."
