PRINCETON, N.J. (3/30/11) - The Princeton track & field teams host the Sam Howell Memorial Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 1-2, at Weaver Stadium.
Attending the meet are: Adelphi, Binghamton, Boston College, Colgate, Columbia, Cortland, Harvard, La Salle, Maine, Manhattan, Marist, UMass, Navy, Penn, St. John's, Southern Connecticut State, Syracuse and Yale.
The meet will begin with the men's hammer throw on Friday at 4 p.m., and the day will be highlighted by the Friday Night Races - the meet's long distance races reserved for those runners prepared to run faster than the meet standards. On Saturday, the women's hammer will kick things off at 11 a.m.
The Tigers won 12 events last year. Princeton swept the 5000, with Kyle Soloff and Mel Newbery winning, and both 4x100 relay teams earned wins. Also posting wins for the women's team were: Emma Ruggiero (hammer throw), Thanithia Billings (shot put), Lauren Tauscher (pole vault) and Eileen Moran (100). Taking first place on the men's team was: Trevor Van Ackeren (steeplechase), Mike Eddy (400), Russell Dinkins (800) and Ian Fox (high jump). Of those 10 individual wins, nine return this season, with Fox the lone 2010 graduate.
