Higginson Qualifies for NCAA Indoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS (3/7/11) - Senior Ashley Higginson of the Princeton women's track & field team has been selected to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 3000-meter run, it was announced by the NCAA on Monday, March 7.
Higginson qualified with a time of 9:14.47 run at the New York Road Runner Saturday Night at The Armory race on Jan. 29. Her time is the second-best 3000 time in Princeton indoor history. Also qualifying is Princeton alum Liz Costello '10 who is representing Tennessee on her final year of track eligibility.
The championships will be held March 11-12 at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.
The women's 3000 will be held on Saturday at 6:40 p.m. ESPN3 will webstream the event.
This is Higginson's first time competing in the NCAA Indoor Championships and first Tiger to compete in the championships since Costello did so in the mile in 2008. Higginson competed in the steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2009 and 2010. She earned All-America honors last spring, finishing third in the nation.
