Women's Track & Field Compete at Tom Jones Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (4/16/11) - Senior Emma Ruggerio was second in the hammer throw and sophomore Lauren Tauscher set a new personal best in the pole vault as the Princeton women's track & field team competed at the Tom Jones Invitational on Saturday, April 16 at Percy Beard Track.
Ruggiero threw to 57.91 meters on her third attempt of the day to finish in second in the hammer throw.
Tauscher cleared a PR of 3.82 meters (12' 6.25") in the pole vault, 1.75" further than her previous best of 3.80 meters.
Seniors Thanithia Billings and Lauren Barber both earned seventh-place finishes in their respective events. Billings threw the shot put to 15.19 meters on her third attempt, and Barber reached 11.31 meters in the triple jump on her third jump of the day. Barber would go on to post the best time for the Tigers in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.50.
Sophomore Joie Hand ran 1:02.75 in the 400-meter hurdles, while classmate Melissa Zajdel ran 58.85 in the 400. The 4x400 relay crossed the line at 3:51.05.
The Tigers will compete at the Moravian Greyhound Invitational tomorrow, Sunday, April 17.
