Track & Field Earns 40 All-League Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/9/11) - Thirty members of the Princeton track & field teams earned 40 all-league honors it was announced by the league office on Monday, May 9, the day following the 2011 Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Championships.
Princeton posted a double triple crown as the men and women swept. Princeton becomes just the 10th school in NCAA Division I history to win a double triple crown.
Fifteen members of the women's team earned 17 honors.
Junior Eileen Moran took home double first-team honors in the 100 and the 4x100 and was a second-team honoree in the 200. Sophomore Alexis Mikaelian earned first- and second-team honors in the 4x800 and 1500, respectively.
Earning first team honors are: Tory Worthen (pole vault), Ashley Higginson (steeplecase), Kristin Smoot, Molly Higgins and Greta Feldman in the 4x800, Abidemi Adenikinju, Erin Guty and Lily Miller in the 4x100.
Five others were named second-team, including: Samantha Anderson (pole vault), Thanithia Billings (shot put), Emma Ruggiero (weight throw), Sarah Cummings (5,000).
Fifteen members of the men's team earned 23 honors.
Leading the team in honors with four was freshman Tom Hopkins. He was a double first-team honoree in the long jump and 4x400 and earned second-team honors in the 4x100 and the 200.
The Most Outstanding Performer of the Meet, junior Donn Cabral was one of three additional double first-team honorees. He earned first-team honors in the 10,000 and the steeplechase. Senior Mark Amirault was named first-team in both the 1,500 and the 5,000. Junior Austin Hollimon collected first-team honors in the 400 and in the 4x400.
Senior Mike Eddy and Ricky Kearney both earned first-team honors as part of the 4x400 relay and Eddy earned second-team honors in the 400, while Kearney did so in the 4x100.
The final first-team honoree was Craig Peace in the hammer throw.
Others earning second team honors are: Dion Lehman (long jump), Derek Hynes (pole vault), David Slovenski (pole vault), Patrick Park (shot put), George Abyad (discus), Russell Dinkins (800), Ivan Charbonneau and Sebastian Steffen in the 4x100.
