News Story: Higginson Puts Law Career On Hold For Track, Tim Morris (News Transcript)
Ashley Higginson '11 has joined the New Jersey-New York Track Club and has been named a volunteer assistant coach with the Princeton cross country and track & field teams for the 2011-12 academic year.
With less than a year before the 2012 Olympics in London, Higginson joins NJ-NY Track Club, under the guidance of Frank Gagliano, to vie for the 2012 USA Olympic Trials and compete for spots on the US Olympic Team.
A three-time All-America, Higginson had third- and sixth-place finishes in the steeplechase and fifth in the indoor 3,000. She competed in the NCAA Track championships all four years and in the NCAA Cross Country championships three times. She was named first-team All-Ivy nine times in her career, and was the Ivy Champion in the 5000 (twice), Steeplechase (3 times), 3,000 (twice) and the Mile. Higginson is the Princeton record holder in the steeplechase and the 4x1500.
Higginson helped the Tigers to nine team titles (four straight in cross country, three indoor and two outdoor), culminating in Princeton recording a double triple crown during the 2010-11 season, becoming just the 10th school in the nation to do so.
Higginson will concentrate in the steeplechase with the NJ-NY Track Club.
She graduated in May with a degree in politics.
