NEW ORLEANS (9/20/11) - The Princeton cross country teams are ranked in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national poll for week #2 of the 2011 season.
The men's team remains 12th with 218 points, two behind 11th place NC State. Princeton is the only Ivy League school in the top 25, with Dartmouth taking 29th and Columbia receiving votes. The two-time defending national champion Oklahoma State remains in first place. Regionally, the Tigers remain first, with Villanova and Georgetown following.
The women's team dropped one place to 20th in this week's poll, despite winning the annual HYP Meet this past weekend and earned 122 points. Regional foe West Virginia leapfrogged one place above with 127 points. The Tigers are the only Ivy League team ranked with Dartmouth and Columbia receiving votes. In the Mid-Atlantic region Princeton remains fourth behind nationally-ranked No. 1 Georgetown, last year's national champion Villanova and Penn State.
Princeton will compete at the Paul Short Run and the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, Sept. 30.
