Men's XC Competes in Two Races on Friday
September 28, 2011 | Men's Cross Country
Princeton will race in the Blue Race on the Notre Dame Golf Course. The five-mile race is set to start at 5 p.m. The Tigers did not compete at the meet last year, instead going to Wisconsin where they finished third.
The Tigers will compete in the Gold Race at Paul Short. The 8k race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., on the Goodman campus.
The Tigers earned a low score of 36 with the first and second-place finishers while averaging a team time of 25:31. Max Kaulbach won the race in 25:14 with Alejandro Arroyo Yamin in second at 25:21. The final three scorers all finished in under 26 minutes.
This weekend will be the second weekend of competition for Princeton. The team competed in the Fordham Fiasco on Sept. 10, and has spent the last two weeks training. The Tigers won the Fiasco, with senior Donn Cabral winning the race. Freshman Eddie Owens proved he's ready for his collegiate career, taking second overall. Senior Brian Leung took fifth overall with sophomore Tyler Udland right behind. Sophomore Chris Bendtsen was the final scorer, taking 12th.
Princeton remains 12th in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national poll, for the third straight week. Regionally the Tigers are still the top team in the Mid-Atlantic Region, with Villanova and Georgetown (both in the national poll at 18 and 22, respectively), trailing.
