Moran, Depth Lead Women's Track & Field To Victory In H-Y-P Meet

Senior Eileen Moran won two events to help the Princeton women's track and field team to a victory at the annual H-Y-P meet, held Saturday afternoon in Cambridge.
Princeton finished the meet with 80 team points, while Harvard took second with 65.5 points. Yale finished third with 13.5 points.
After not posting a team score in the weight throw, Princeton freshman Chukwunonso Okwelogu placed second in the shot put with a throw of 13.22m. The Tigers also got a second-place finish from sophomore Theresa Kennedy in the high jump (1.65m).
Princeton picked up its first win in the triple jump, and it did so with a 1-2 finish. Sophomore Imani Oliver won the event with a jump of 12.19m, while Kennedy picked up another second-place finish with a jump of 11.15m.
Junior Tory Worthen won the pole vault (4.0m), while classmate Bianca Reo placed third (3.6m). The 60-meter hurdles provided an exciting win for Princeton, as freshman Tejumade Adewole beat her Harvard rival by .04 of a second with a time of 8.82.
Princeton placed three in the top 40 in the 60, with Moran winning the final in 7.61. Freshman Emily Easton took second in 7.79, while junior Abidemi Adenikinju took fourth in 7.80.
Junior Greta Feldman earned a win in the mile in 4:48.69, while junior Alexis Mikaelian took fourth in 4:51.09. Freshman Cecilia Barowski followed with a win in the 400 in 55.43, while sophomore Carrie Vuong took fourth in 57.00.
The 800 was a close battle between a quartet of Princeton and Harvard runners. Crimson senior Meghan Looney took the win in 2:11.07, but Princeton sophomores Kacie O'Neil (2:11.39) and Kristin Smoot (2:11.52) went 2-3.
Moran picked up her second win of the day by again holding off Easton in the 200 final. Moran won the event in 24.86, while Easton took second in 25.22. Sophomore Lily Miller made it a Tiger trifecta by finishing third in 25.58.
Princeton went 1-2 in the 3000, with junior Melissa Newbery winning in 9:43.06 and sophomore Therea Devine placing second in 9:45.37. The Tigers also earned wins in the 4x440 relay (3:49.07) and the 4x880 relay (8:59.62).
