Open Crew Wins Fifth Straight Class of 1975 Cup, Stays Perfect In Ivies

The Princeton open crew moved to 4-0 in the Ivy League and claimed The Class of 1975 Cup Regatta for the fifth straight season today on Carnegie Lake in Princeton.
The fourth-ranked Tigers defeated Harvard, Cornell and Columbia in the varsity eight showdown and took three of four races on Bud Smith Memorial Race Course on Lake Carnegie.
Princeton won the varsity eight by finishing five seconds ahead of runner-up Columbia. Princeton crossed the line at 7:14.1 with Columbia at 7:19.1. The second varsity eight clocked in at 7:16.9, finishing nearly four seconds in front of Harvard. The third varsity eight earned the widest margin of victory on the day with a nearly 20-second victory with Cornell and Harvard trailing.
"It was good racing in very challenging conditions," head coach Lori Dauphiny said. "There was intense racing this morning with a couple photo finishes. The rowers did a nice job."
The varsity four A stayed perfect this season by claiming victory in 8:05.4, while Harvard placed second at 8:10.1. Cornell took third in 8:10.6 and Columbia finished fourth in 8:41.7.
Harvard picked up the win in the varsity four B race with a time of 8:30.6.
Princeton will stay home next weekend to take on both Yale and USC in the annual Eisenberg Cup regatta.
