Kirby Named to U.S. U21 Junior National Squad, Holmes-Winn to Coach U17s

Princeton field hockey rising sophomore Sydney Kirby has been named to the 30-player 2012-13 U.S. U21 Junior National Field Hockey Squad, it was announced by USA Field Hockey on July 18. Former U.S. National Team player and current Tiger head coach Kristen Holmes-Winn was also appointed head coach of the U17 Junior National Squad.
Kirby, who moves up the U21s after spending the last five years playing for the U16 through U19 teams, heads to the University of Maryland to train for the next month for the Junior Pan American Championship in Guadalajara, Mexico from Sept. 8-24. She joins incoming freshman Teresa Benvenuti on the U21 team.
A veteran coach with the U.S. youth national system, Holmes-Winn's U17 player pool has yet to be officially announced for the upcoming year.
