Kirby Helps Lead U.S. Junior Field Hockey Team to 9-0 Win at Pan Ams

Princeton field hockey sophomore Sydney Kirby helped propel the U.S. Junior Women's Team to a 9-0 victory over Venezuela to open the 2012 Junior Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Kirby had a pair of goals in the game, including finding the back of the net over the first six minutes of the match. She was one of six different goal scorers in the game.
"The U.S. had a solid start to what will be a long tournament and we were able to accomplish the concepts we put forward in the pre-game plan," said assistant coach Shellie Onstead.
Kirby and the U.S. next face Paraguay in preliminary play tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
