This Week for the Tigers:
• The No. 9 Princeton field hockey team opens its five-game road swing on Friday, Oct. 11 at No. 1 Maryland (12-0) at 6 p.m. in College Park. The match marks the fifth ranked team Princeton has faced this season, including third top-five.
• Two days later, the Tigers will take a trip to Newark, Del. to square off with the Delaware Blue Hens (8-3) at 1 p.m.
Last Time Out:
• Princeton improved to 6-3, 3-0 Ivy with a 5-0 shutout victory over Columbia on Oct. 4.
• Junior Cassidy Arner scored twice, her first goals of the season, including the game-winner 24 seconds into the game.
• Freshman Cat Caro scored her first career goal and Allison Evans added a pair to round out the Tigers scoring drives.
On Deck: Princeton's road swing takes them to Brown on Saturday, Oct. 19 for a lone match at 12 noon.

Scouting No. 1 Maryland:
• No. 1 Maryland enters this week's meeting at 12-0, 3-0 ACC.
• The Terps are coming off a 6-0 win over Hofstra on Oct. 8
• 11 different players have recorded mutli-goals on the year, with Jill Witmer and Anna Dessoye's 10 and seven, respectively leading the way.
• Natalie Hunter (10-0) has served as UM's primary goalkeeper, tallying 38 saves, a .792 goals against average, 10 goals against and a 1.08 goals against average over 11 games played.
All-Time vs. Maryland:
• Maryland owns the all-time series versus Princeton, 16-6-1, including an 8-2 advantage at home.
• The Tigers went 2-0 versus the Terps in 2012, topping UM during the regular season, 3-2, on Oct. 2 at Bedford Field.
• In a rematch in the NCAA semifinals on Nov. 16, Princeton again earned a 3-2 victory but had to battle into overtime. Kathleen Sharkey '13 put Princeton up 2-1 in the first half, but Ali McEvoy knotted the game in the 56th minute off a penalty stroke. Deadlocked the game went into overtime and Teresa Benvenuti '16 converted on a Tiger stroke in the 76th minute to send the Tigers to the national championship game.
Scouting Delaware:
• Delaware (8-3, 2-0 CAA) enters this weekend's action riding a two-game winning streak.
• The Blue Hens will host Towson on Friday, Oct. 11 before facing Princeton.
• Michaela Patzner paces Delaware's offense with 10 goals over 11 appearances, including going 3-for-3 in penalty strokes.
• Sarah Scher serves as the Blue Hens' lone goaltender, amassing 54 saves, a .730 saves percentage, 20 goals against, a 1.81 goals against average and two shutouts.
All-Time vs. Delaware:
• Princeton and Delaware are tied in the all-time series, 11-11-3; however the Blue Hens have a 5-4-1 advantage when playing at home.
• In their last meeting, Princeton earned a dominating 10-2 victory over Delaware on Sept. 16, 2012 at Bedford Field.
• Kathleen Sharkey '13 had a hat trick, while Katie Reinprecht '13 and Michelle Cesan '14 both added a pair each.
Arner Named Ivy Player of the Week:
• Junior Cassidy Arner earned her first career Ivy League Player of the Week honor.
• After moving into the midfield, she scored the game-winning goal 24 seconds in and added an insurance goal late in the half versus Columbia on Oct. 4.
• It was her first career multi-goal performance.
Extending Ivy Win Streak:
• The Tigers extended their Ivy League winning streak to 16 consecutive victories following last week's 5-0 win over Columbia.
• Princeton has gone 7-0 in league play seven times over 11th-season head coach Kristen Holmes-Winn's tenure.
The Ivy Race:
• The top spot in the Ivy League is still being held by both Penn and Princeton at 3-0.
• The two squads will faceoff in the regular season finale on Nov. 9.
Multi-Goal Games:
• Cassidy Arner, Teresa Benvenuti and Allison Evans each have recorded multi-goal scoring games.
• Benvenuti had a hat trick at Dartmouth on Sept. 21 and a pair of goals versus Fairfield on Sept. 7.
• Arner had her first career multi-score effort last week versus Columbia.
• Evans has scored two goals in games versus Dartmouth and Columbia.
Career Firsts:
• Junior Cassidy Arner scored her first goal of the season 24 seconds into the match, adding a second later in the half for her first multi-goal game of her career.
• Seven minutes into the game, freshman Cat Caro notched her first career goal picking up a deflection outside the cage.
A Closer Look at the Losses:
• All three losses have been to teams ranked No. 13 or higher at the time of the meeting.
• The Tigers are 1-3 versus ranked opponents on the year.
• Princeton has not lost to an unranked opponent since 2011.
Picking Up Points:
• Following her two-goal effort versus Columbia on Oct. 4, Allison Evans leads the offense with 17 points.
• She has a team-best seven goals over nine games, along with three assists.
The National Scene:
• The Tigers moved up two places from No. 11 to 9 in this week's national top-20 poll.
• Princeton is ranked No. 9 in this week's RPI poll. It is the only Ivy team in the top-30.
• As a team, the Tigers are tabbed in the top-20 in the following national statistical categories:
• No. 8 - penalty corners per game (8.89)
• No. 12 - assists per game (2.67)
• No. 16 - points per game (8.44)
• No. 17 - goals per game (2.89)
• No. 18 - scoring average (2.82)
• No. 19 - scoring margin (1.19)
Reinprecht '13 and Sharkey '13 Win Silver at Pan Am Cup:
• Katie Reinprecht '13 and Kathleen Sharkey '13, members of the U.S. Field Hockey National Team, helped Team USA earn a berth to the 2014 World Cup following a successful silver medal finish at the Pan American Cup in Mendoza, Argentina.
• The U.S. went 3-0 in group play and defeated Canada 4-0 in the semifinals.
• Team USA finished in second place with a 1-0 loss to host-Argentina to earn silver.
• Reinprecht tallied four goals and Sharkey had three over the tournament.
• Former Princeton assistant and current U.S. assistant coach Nate Franks '07 added to the Tiger representation at the tournament.
The Captains: Seniors Kelsey Byrne, Michelle Cesan and Julia Reinprecht will serve as tri-captains in 2013.
Beautiful Bedford:
• Bedford, a state-of-the-art turf facility, features an optimal playing surface in artificial turf and a built-in watering system.
• There are currently 1,572 seats, with room for additional temporary seating.
National Team News:
• Julia Reinprecht '14, a 2012 London Summer Olympian, competed with the U.S. Senior National Team at the World League Semifinals in London this summer.
• Michelle Cesan '14, a 2012 London Summer Olympics alternate, is a member of the U.S. Senior National Team.
• Teresa Benvenuti '16 was named to the U.S. Senior National Team this spring. She competed with the U21s at the Junior World Cup in Aug. 2013.
• Alums Katie Reinprecht '13 and Kathleen Sharkey '13 are also members of the senior national team, most recently being named to the U.S. Pan Am Cup roster.
• Former assistant coach Nate Franks '07 is on staff at USA Field Hockey.
Williamson Joins Coaching Staff:
• David Williamson joined the Tiger coaching staff as the team's goalkeeping coach in 2013.
• He is a 2002 graduate of the University of Ulster.
• He previously worked at Monmouth, Kent State, the Irish Hockey and U.S. Field Hockey associations.
A Look at Last Year:
• Katie Reinprecht '13 was named Princeton's first Honda Award Winner, along with garnering NFHCA and Mid-Atlantic Player of the Year and Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year honors.
• Kathleen Sharkey '13 led the nation in scoring and was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year.
• Teresa Benvenuti '16 earned Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors.
• 10 Tigers were named All-Ivy and All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team selections.
