Men's Cross Country Takes 22nd at NCAAs

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (11/23/13) - The Princeton men's cross country team finished 22nd at the 2013 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, Nov. 23.
Princeton captured 469 points in its 14th appearance at the NCAAs and fourth straight. The Tigers had the best finish of the four Ivy League teams competing, as Dartmouth, Columbia and Harvard followed.
Seniors Tyler Udland the Alejandro Arroyo Yamin both finished the top 100, for the second straight year. Udland who paced the Tigers all season finished 47th with at ime of 30:53.5. Arroyo Yamin ran 31:03.5 to take 73rd. Junior Sam Pons was the No. 3 runner for the second straight meet. He claimed 112th place with a time of 31:24.6. Fellow juniors Matt McDonald and Connor Martin rounded out the scorers with times of 31:37.5 and 32:26.1. Senior Chris Bendsten was the Tigers No. 6, finishing two places back from Martin at 32:27.7 and junior Eddie Owens clocked a 32:36.1
Colorado won the national championship with a score of 149. Northern Arizona was 20 points back for second place and Oklahoma State was third. For the first time in NCAA history a freshman won the race as Oregon's Edward Cheserek stunned Texas Tech's Kennedy Kithuka for the win.
