Princeton trailed only early in a 83-58 win over Pacific Friday night in the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic and led by double figures for the game's last 22 minutes.

It was just Pacific's second loss of the season, with the other coming at Oregon in a game the Stockton, Calif.-based Tigers led at halftime.

Princeton's largest lead was 30 points at 79-49 on Clay Wilson's third 3-pointer of the game with 7:56 to play, but it was an early first-half run that broke the game open. Princeton went on an 8-0 run to lead by double figures for the first time, turning an 11-9 lead into 19-9 with 13:42 to play. Hans Brase and T.J. Bray combined for all eight points in the key run, after which Princeton led by no fewer than eight points over the game's final 33 minutes.

Princeton's 18 3-pointers made were a program record against a Division I opponent. The only other time Princeton made 18 or more threes was on Jan. 27, 2003, when the Tigers canned 20 in the post-finals break game against Division III Ursinus.

18: Princeton kept hammering away from 3, and they fell at a rate of 46.2 percent as Princeton made 18 of 39 tries. Nine players made a 3-pointer, including Clay Wilson, who canned 3 of them. His last one gave Princeton its largest lead at 79-49 with 5:36 to play.

A Denton Koon 3-pointer made it 22-11 with 12:43 to play in the first half, Princeton's largest lead at the time. It was an important run as Princeton never led by fewer than eight points after that.

• Princeton's 9-1 start remains its best since the 1997-98 season, when it was 9-1 after 10 games on the way to finishing the regular season with just one loss.

• Princeton has the chance to win a tournament title/finish a tournament undefeated for the first time since the First Merchants Classic hosted by Ball State on Dec. 1-2, 2000. Princeton beat Weber State and Ball State in that event.

• It was the first meeting between Princeton and Pacific. The Tigers will face another first-time opponent Saturday at 8 p.m. PT when they face Portland.

• Princeton's 83 points were its most since scoring 95 at Evansville on March 13, 2012. Princeton had 48 first-half points that night, just ahead of the 45 it had at the break tonight. That game was also the last time Princeton had 22 assists, the same number it had tonight.

• T.J. Bray passed his former coach, Sydney Johnson '97, now with 285 career assists. That's good for seventh on the program list for a stat that has been kept since the 1974-75 season. Marcus Schroeder '10 is next at 295 assists.

• The 25-point margin of victory was Princeton's largest since beating Columbia 65-40 on Feb. 22, 2013.

• Princeton's eight-game winning streak is its longest since the 2010-11 Tigers reeled off 10 straight.

Princeton and Portland (7-4) will meet for the first time Saturday night in Las Vegas in Princeton's final game at the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic. The Pilots were a 74-53 winner over Bradley Friday night prior to Princeton's game.
