Serwanga Wins Long & Triple Jump at TCNJ Lions Invitational

EWING, N.J. (4/27/13) – Senior Isaac Serwanga won both the long jump and the triple jump in his first meet of the season at The College of New Jersey's Lions Invitational on Saturday, April 27.
Serwanga launched himself to 14.38 (47-2.25) in the triple jump and 6.90 (22-7.75) in the long jump. This marked Serwanaga's first meet of the year as he rejoined the track & field team after completed full seasons with the football and basketball teams.
Sophomore Tumi Akinlawon and freshman Jake Scinto went 2-3 behind Serwanga in the long jump. Akinlawon leapt to 6.87 (22-6.50) while Scinto reached 6.84 (22-5.25). Scinto went on to take second place in the high jump as he cleared 1.98 (6-6). Junior Omar Jarrett was fifth at 1.93 (6-4).
Freshman Bryan Oslin recorded a PR in the pole vault. He cleared 4.65 (15-3) to place second in the event. In the final field event of the day, junior Alec Bingaman finished fifth in the javelin with a best toss of 53.66 (176).
Freshman David Pugliese had a big day in the middle distance. He won the 1500 at 3:54.61 and was the top collegiate finisher in the 800. His time of 1:54.13 in the 800 was fifth overall, with the four runners in front of him belong to professional running clubs.
Princeton went 2-3-5 in the 110-meter hurdles. Senior Richard Sheldon was the runner-up at 14.53, followed by sophomore Rob Mohr at 14.61 and freshman Greg Caldwell at 15.10 for fifth.
The Tigers host the Ivy League Heptagonal next weekend, May 4-5 at Weaver Stadium.
