NEW ORLEANS (8/27/13) - The Princeton women's cross country team finds itself in the national preseason rankings, sitting at No. 24 in the poll released by the?U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Princeton has been ranked in the preseason poll every year since 2004.?
The Tigers are ranked No. 4 in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
The Tigers finished in second place at Heps last year and were fourth at the Regionals with three members of the team earning all-region honors. Two of those all-region runners return this year, juniors Emily de La Bruyere and Jackie Nicholas. Princeton lost its top scorer, Greta Feldman to graduaton, along with Alexis Mikaelian, Abby Levene and Mel Newbery. Looking to fill those voids are returning scorers junior Erika Fluehr,?senior?Marissa Cummings and?senior Molly Higgins - back from missing the majority of last year. Juniors Lindsay Eysenbach and Sophie Harkins along with sophomore Maria Seykora and are also expected to have breakout seasons.
Princeton opens the season on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Delaware Blue Hen Invitational.
