Fifth-Ranked Women's Squash Sweeps Drexel, Remains Unbeaten On The Season
December 04, 2014 | Women's Squash
It was a strong, balanced effort from the Tiger women, who won every individual game during the win. Only one individual game saw a Drexel player score more than five points, while six of the Princeton players gave up fewer than nine points in their respective matches.
"The team has being working very hard all fall and are making some nice improvements in their games," head coach Gail Ramsay said. "Tonight we were focused and excited to play Drexel. It was good to see them play so well."
Princeton got wins from every class, including three from its Class of 2015. Nicole Bunyan was part of the first shift and won at the No. 3 spot, while both Alex Lunt (No. 4) and Hallie Dewey (No. 7) were part of the closing shift.
On the other end of the roster, the freshman duo of Olivia Fiechter and Lindsey Scott remained unbeaten at home. Fiechter dropped only seven points at the No. 1 position, while Scott gave up eight at the No. 5 spot.
Reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Year Maria Elena Ubina claimed a win at No. 2, while classmate Alexandra Toth allowed a match-low four points in her win at No. 8. Juniors Rachel Leizman (No. 6) and Tara Harrington (No. 9) were part of the opening-shift sweep that helped give Princeton its early advantage.
Princeton will return to Jadwin Monday night at 6 pm for a showdown against George Washington.
