Men's Track & Field Gets Three Wins as Indoor Season Begins

PRINCETON, N.J. (12/7/14) - Junior Greg Caldwell, sophomore Christopher Cook and freshman Carrington Akosa all earned victories as Princeton opened the indoor track & field season today, hosting the New Year's Invitational at Jadwin Gym.
In the shot put, Princeton went 1-2-4-5 with Cook winning the event with a throw of 17.88 (58-8). Senior Scott Rushton was the runner-up at 16.89 (55-5). Freshman Mitchel Charles and sophomore Jared Bell were fourth and fifth at 16.02 (52-6.75) and 15.55 (51-0.25)
Akosa, senior Tommaso Greenbaum and freshman Maxwell Schwegman all qualified for the final of the 60. It was Akosa that came away with the victory at 6.94, with Schwegman and Greenbaum taking fifth and sixth at 7.08 and 7.09, respectively.
Caldwell won the 60-meter hurdles at 8.13 after an 8.27 in the preliminary round.
Freshman Charlie Stahl and sophomore Stephen Rossettie went 1-2 in the mile. Stahl ran 4:29.65 and Rossettie crossed the line at 4:30.03.
Sophomore Xavier Bledsoe was the runner-up in the high jump as he cleared 1.98 (6-6).
Other top-five finishes included freshman Kenan Farmer third in the 1,000 at 2:33.92, sophomore Greg Leeper third in the long jump at 7.05 (23-1.75), freshman August Kiles third in the pole vault at 4.65 (15-3), sophomore Bryant Switzer fourth in the 300 at 35.66, sophomore Vic Youn fourth in the weight at 16.47 (54-0.50) and freshman Lane Russell fourth in the triple jump at 13.58 (44-6.75).
The Tigers will host Navy in the annual dual meet on Monday, Jan. 5 at Jadwin Gym.
