Sophomore Christopher Cook won the shot put with a throw of 17.51 (57-5.50) on his final attempt. His throw of 16.99 and 16.96 on his third and fifth attempts would have won him the event. Senior Scott Rushton threw a 16.17 (53-00.75) on one of his two countable throws for second place.
