Ratcliffe Wins ECAC Hammer Title; Mackay & 4x800 Advance

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/17/14) - Sophomore Julia Ratcliffe won her second consecutive ECAC hammer throw title for Princeton women's track & field on Day 2 of the ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Ratcliffe threw the hammer to 69.10 (226-08) to claim her ninth straight hammer competition this season. She faced Lafayette's Rachel Pena, who she will see again in the NCAA East Regional, as Pena ranks in the top-10 in the East in the event. She beat Pena by 6.60 meters, more than 20 feet.
Junior Kim Mackay qualified for the finals of the 800. She ran 2:08.06 in the prelims to make the eight-person final scheduled for 1:30 p.m., on Sunday.
The all senior relay of Kristin Smoot, Kacie O'Neil, Molly Higgins and Henrietta Miers qualified for the final of the 4x800 relay. They posted the third-best time in the prelims at 8:54.97. The final is slated for 2:40 p.m.
Sophomore Meghan McMullin was three places out of qualifying for the final of the 400 hurdles. She ran 1:00.70 to place 11th.
In the heptathlon, senior Theresa Kennedy was 11th as she earned 4,364 points.
Competition begins tomorrow at 10 a.m., with the high jump.
