McDonald Wins IC4A 10k; Four Tigers Advance

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/17/14) - Junior Matt McDonald won the men's 10k on Day 2 of the IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Weaver Stadium.
McDonald came across the line at 29:53.86, the only runner to finsh in uner 30 minutes and was 6.05 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack. Sophomore Michael Sublette was fourth at 30:14.17 as the pair was rabbitted by senior Alejandro Arroyo Yamin.
The 4x100 relay of sophomore Dre Nelson, sophomore John Hill, junior Daniel McCord and senior Tom Hopkins posted the second-best time in the prelims at 40.49 to win heat 2.. The time was just 0.01 second out of first place. The relay will run in the final tomorrow at 12:20 p.m.
Hopkins will race in the final of the 200. He ran the second-best time in the prelims, clocking a 21.18 to win heat 6. The final is set for 2:15 p.m., tomorrow. Also competing in the prelims was McCord who ran 21.70 and freshman Brent Albertson who ran 22.35.
Sophomore Michael Williams qualified for the final of the 1500, as he ran the third-best time of the afternoon,out of 28 competitors. He clocked a 3:47.55 to win heat 2 and will compete in the final tomorrow at 12:30 p.m.
Sophomore Greg Caldwell made his way into the semifinals of the 110-meter hurdles. He was one of 14 that advances after putting up a 14.81 in the prelims. He shaved .26 off his time in the semifinals with a 14.55, just 0.09 seconds out of qualifying for the final.
Junior Adam Bragg was fifth in the pole vault clearing 5.10 (16-8.75). Freshman Ben Gaylord was finished in 13th place as he cleared 4.80 (15-9).
Sunday's events kick off at 9 a.m., with the shot put. Princeton's first event is the javelin at 10:30 a.m.
