Volleyball Faces Final Tune-Ups At Rutgers Before Ivy Competiton

After an impressive championship performance last weekend at the Delaware Invitational, the Princeton women's volleyball team will play its final tournament before Ivy competition officially begins next weekend. The Tigers will make the quick trip to New Brunswick to compete in the Rutgers Invitational.

CHAMPIONSHIP EFFORT
Princeton earned its first tournament sweep since the 2010 season-opening Lafayette Invitational last weekend when it swept George Mason, Delaware and Manhattan at the Delaware Invitational. The first day featured two five-set comeback wins over both Mason and Delaware.
YOUR HONOR
Junior Kendall Peterkin has won the Ivy League Player of the Week honor in both weeks it was awarded, and it followed her being named tournament MVP in Delaware. Peterkin averaged 4.4 kills and 3.1 digs per set last weekend, and she punctuated the effort in style with 26 kills and 22 digs in the four-set win over Manhattan. STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
Peterkin ranks first in the Ivy League and 14th nationally in points per set (5.07), and she ranks first in the Ivy League and 20th nationally in kills per set (4.41).
DASCH-BACH ON TRACK
Junior Sarah Daschbach earned all-tournament team honors after averaging more than 5.1 digs per set in the three wins. She was one off her career high with 30 against Delaware, and she followed that with 29 in a four-set win over Manhattan.
SET IT UP
Sophomore Lauren Miller is in her second season as the starting setter, and she has moved into the national Top 20 in assists early this season. She ranks first in the Ivy League and 15th nationally with 11.48 assists per set, and she joined Peterkin and Daschbach on the all-tournament team.
KING FOR A DAY
While the most well-known King in Princeton volleyball lore is women's head coach Sabrina King, the one who had the biggest impact in the win over George Mason was freshman Pauli King. The outside had a career-high 13 kills, including the match winner, in the 3-2 win over George Mason. She accounted for four of Princeton's first five points in the final set with three kills and a block.
SCOUTING AMERICAN
The reigning Patriot League champions are coming off a historic season, going 34-3 and winning two matches in the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles are 5-4 this season, though it has losses to the likes of Penn State, Florida State and Kansas early this season. Junior Allison Cappellino leads the team with 3.6 kills per set.
SCOUTING JAMES MADISON
James Madison enters the weekend with a 5-5 record, though it is hitting an efficient .231 this season. Janey Goodman has been the team's go-to hitter, averaging 3.9 kills per set.
SCOUTING AKRON
Akron is 6-5 on the season, and has been led by a pair of underclassmen. Sophomore Amanda Bedell has a team-best 3.0 points per set from the outside, while freshman Anna Wenger is second on the team with 2.29 kills per set.
SCOUTING RUTGERS
Rutgers is 5-4 on the season, and it runs a very balanced offense. Five different players are averaging at least two kills per set, including Meme Fletcher, who leads the way with 2.84. Setter Anna Sudbury is in charge of running the offense, though the Scarlet Knights have used other setters during the season.
