STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Princeton University men's track & field team returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Penn State Relays.
Fifteen collegiate programs and one club team will descend on Happy Valley for the meet. They include: Bucknell, Lebanon Valley, LIU-Brooklyn, Lock Haven, Maryland, Norfolk State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Princeton, Robert Morris, St. Francis, St. Joseph's, St. Peter's, UMBC, West Virginia, and the Central Park Track Club.
The field events are slated to begin at 10 a.m. with the women's weight throw to be followed by the men's weight throw. The track events will begin also begin at 10 a.m. with the mixed mile run, followed by the women's mile at 11 a.m. and the men's mile at 11:15 a.m. The final field events will begin at 3 p.m. with the high jump. The meet will draw to a close at 5:40 p.m. with the afternoon's final event, the men's 4x400 relay.
On Monday, Princeton defeated Navy in a dual meet at Jadwin Gymnasium, 94-86. Tied at 33-33 after six events, the Tigers garnered seven points to the Midshipmen's three in the 500m to grab a lead they would not relinquish.
Christopher Cook won the shot put with a throw of 17.51 (57-5.50), while Greg Leeper took the long jump with a leap of 7.14 (23-5.25). Lane Russell captured the triple jump at 15.18 (49-.75), while Princeton claimed seven of the 11 points up for grabs in the high jump behind Xavier Bledsoe's first-place showing.
Eric Schulz won the pivotal 500m with a time of 1:06.50, while Ray Mennin was third, clocking in at 1:06.99. Bradley Paternostro was victorious in the 800m (1:53.57), while Garrett O'Toole picked up the win in the 1000m with a time of 2:26.71.
