Gregoire, Asom Capture Ivy's Weekly Women's Soccer Honors
October 12, 2015 | Women's Soccer
Each had a goal in each of Princeton's two wins last week, and each was recognized with an Ivy League weekly award as Vanessa Gregoire is the co-Player of the Week and Mimi Asom is the co-Rookie of the Week.
Gregoire shares her award with Harvard's Margaret Purce and Asom shares hers with Yale's Keri Cavallo.
Gregoire and Asom each contributed a goal to a 4-1 win over Army and to a 4-0 win at Brown, helping run Princeton's winning streak to seven games and the team's Ivy League record to 3-0 for the first time since 2012.
The Player of the Week award is Princeton's fourth of the season and Gregoire's second along with a season-opening honor on Aug. 31. Asom has won the Rookie honor four straight weeks, an Ivy League record.
Gregoire now has four goals on the season, tied for third on the team with sophomore classmate Natalie Larkin, and Asom's eight goals are second on the team to Tyler Lussi (nine) and just four off tying the program record for goals in a season by a freshman (12, Linda DeBoer '86, 1982).
Princeton will look to keep the winning streak going with a pair of home games this week, against Lehigh Wednesday and Columbia Saturday, both 7 p.m. starts.
