Men's Track & Field Finishes First Day at Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup

PRINCETON, N.J. – With several solid showings, the Princeton University men's track & field team closed out the first day of competition at Penn State's Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup.
Rob Mohr had the best time in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 8.03. Greg Caldwell posted the second fastest time in the first heat, clocking in at 8.17.
In the finals, it was Caldwell who shined, taking third overall thanks to a personal-record time of 8.03. Mohr finished fourth with a time of 8.05 as Princeton secured 11 points in the event.
Greg Leeper scored four points for the Tigers in the long jump, finishing fifth with a leap of 7.08m (23-02.75). Teammate Tumi Akinlawon was eighth at 6.98m (22-11.00).
Carrington Akosa was the Tigers' lone qualifier in the 60-meter dash after recording the second fastest time in the first heat (6.95). Tommaso Greenbaum was 17th overall with a time of 7.07.
Later in the evening, Akosa secured eight points for Princeton, finishing one, one-hundredth of a second behind UConn's Patrick Hayes. Claiming second-place, the freshman clocked in at 6.82.
In the weight throw, Jake Taylor was 17th overall with a toss of 15.49m (50-10.00). Teammate Vic Youn came in 19th at 15.45m (50-08.25).
The Tigers will resume the second day of competition on Saturday, Feb. 7.
