No. 9 Women's Water Polo Splits Matches Against Indiana, Iona

PRINCETON, N.J. – The ninth-ranked women's water polo team wrapped up play at the 2015 Princeton Invitational by splitting a pair of matches against Indiana and Iona.
Suffering their first setback of the season, the Tigers opened the day with a hard-fought 9-8 overtime loss to No. 17 Indiana. Rebounding in the nightcap, Princeton cruised to an 18-6 victory over Iona to improve to 3-1 on the young season.
The Orange and Black will return to action on Feb. 14-15 at Bucknell's Bison Invitational.

In a rematch of last year's CWPA Championship game, the Princeton University women's water polo team suffered its first setback of the season with a 9-8 overtime loss to Indiana.
With the game knotted at 6-6 in the later stages of the fourth quarter, Ashley Hatcher netted a go-ahead goal with 2:04 on the clock. Coming up with an equalizer with under a minute to play in regulation, Indiana accounted for two of the three overtime scores to claim the victory.
Hatcher and Jessie Holechek each had a pair of goals for Princeton, while Camille Hooks, Sydney Cheong, Taylor Dunstan and Morgan Hallock also got on the board.
Hooks dished out a pair of assists, while Haley Wan nabbed a team-high four steals. Logging all 38 minutes in net, Ashleigh Johnson finished with eight saves.

Rebounding from its overtime loss to Indiana, the women's water polo team closed out play at the Princeton Invitational with a decisive 18-6 triumph over Iona.
Building a 3-2 lead after the first quarter, the Tigers netted seven unanswered over the next eight minutes. Holding a 4-3 scoring edge in the third period, Princeton tallied four of the contest's final five goals.
Haley Wan and Morgan Hallock each posted a hat trick, while Ashley Hatcher, Pippa Temple, Hannah Lapkin and Kimi Klein each had a pair of scores. Chelsea Johnson, Sydney Cheong, Jessie Holechek and Kelly Gross also got on the scoreboard.
Gross had a team-high three assists, while Camille Hooks, Taylor Dunstan and Hallock each had a pair of helpers. Wan also recorded two steals and three blocks, while Temple drew four ejections.
Making her second career start, Helena van Brande finished with 13 saves. Recording seven stops in the first half, she had six more following the intermission. Playing all 32 minutes, van Brande also picked up three steals and an assist.
