Baseball Closes Out Two-Game Set Against East Carolina With 8-3 Loss

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Princeton University baseball team put the wraps on a quick two-game set against East Carolina University with a 8-3 loss at Clark-LeClair Stadium.
Jumping out to a 7-0 lead, the Pirates pounded out 16 hits. The Tigers scored three runs on 10 hits.
Breaking through in the bottom of the second, ECU scored three runs on a Charlie Yorgen bunt single and a Parker Lamm base-knock to right. The following inning, Yorgen laid down another bunt that brought in a run with the Pirates tacking on a fifth score on a passed ball.
After two more ECU runs in the fourth, Princeton got one back in the top of the fifth. With Tyler Servais on third and two out, Billy Arendt found a hole on the right side of the infield to plate the Tigers' first run.
Still down 7-1 in the eighth, the Orange and Black scored twice more. Zack Belski, Danny Hoy and Peter Owens led off the frame with three straight singles to load the bases. Paul Tupper then reached on an error that allowed Belski to come home. With one out after a pitching change, Servais plated Hoy with a single to right.
Belski and Owens each went 2-for-4, while Hoy was 2-for-5. Arendt, Servais, Danny Baer and Asher Lee-Tyson accounted for the rest of the Tigers' 10 hits. Chris Bodurian took the loss, surrendering seven runs on 12 hits in 4.0 innings. Tyler Foote allowed just one run on four hits in his 4.0 innings with four strikeouts.
Luke Lowery led the ECU offense, going 4-for-5 with an RBI and run scored. Lamm was 3-for-5 with two RBI, while Travis Watkins and Jackson Mims each had a pair of hits. Yorgen was 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Nick Durazo allowed one run on four hits in 5.0 innings in the win. Ross Gardner and Reid Love combined to pitch 4.0 shutout innings, giving up three hits.
