Ratcliffe Wins at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA (4/23/15) – The reigning NCAA hammer throw champion Julia Ratcliffe added her second Penn Relays title to her resume as the the Penn Relays got underway today at Franklin Field.
Ratcliffe threw to 66.31 (217-6) to win the hammer, and was the only thrower to reach 200 feet as the next best competitor found 60.50 (198-5).
Junior Brielle Rowe started the Relays off on a hot note for the Princeton women's track & field team. Rowe threw a PR of 45.65 (149-9) in the discus to finish 12th overall. She later threw 48.16 (158) in the hammer throw, while freshman Kennedy O'Dell tossed to 45.69 (149-10).
All three Tigers who ran in the 5k championship posted PRs. Junior Kathrn Fluehr was the first across the line at 16:23.06 to finish 11th overall. Classmate Kathryn Little shaved 14 seconds off her PR at 16:42.62, while Erika Fluehr bettered her PR by 12 seconds at 16:42.62.
In the steeplechase championship, junior Emily de La Bruyere ran 10:38.03 to finish in sixth place, while sophomore Ally Markovich was 12th at 10:48.27. In the flat 3k, freshman Melinda Renuart clocked 10:00.87.
Junior Taylor Morgan placed 10th in the high jump, clearing 1.68 (5-6) and junior Sara Ronde jumped to 5.44 (17-10.25) in the long jump.
The 4x400 of Jasmine Blocker, Joanna Anyanwu, Kim Mackay and Cecilia Barowski finished second in the Heptagonal race at 3:43.93, just behind Cornell's 3:42.02 and will race in Saturday's final.
