Lazo Joins Boston Breakers of the National Women's Soccer League
May 15, 2015 | Women's Soccer
Soon-to-be Princeton alumna Lauren Lazo has signed with the Boston Breakers of the National Women's Soccer League, the team announced Thursday.
Lazo finished her Princeton career tied for fifth all-time in goals scored, with 28, and fifth in points, with 82, while tying for the program record for career assists, with 26. She is one of only two players in program history to get at least 26 points in each of two seasons, doing so as a sophomore and a senior, and her 10 assists in her final season is the second-most in program history. In all four of her seasons with the program, Lazo was recognized with All-Ivy League honors, finishing her career with her second first-team All-Ivy League honor and her second NSCAA all-region honor this past fall.
Lazo helped Princeton get to the 2012 NCAA tournament, which followed a perfect 7-0 Ivy League season, and scored a goal in the Round of 32 against Marquette.
Lazo's signing makes three Tiger alums in the NWSL, along with Lazo's former teammate Jen Hoy '13 with the Chicago Red Stars and Diana Matheson '08 with the Washington Spirit. Hoy has started each of Chicago's first four games, getting the team's second goal in a 3-2 win over Seattle in the season opener on April 18.
