Three Tigers competed in the shot put today, freshman Mitchel Charles, sophomore Chris Cook and senior Scott Rushton. Princeton's three shot putters was the second-most behind Florida States four.
Princeton had the three Tigers compete in the shot put this afternoon, second-most competitors in the event behind Florida State's four. Cook had the best showing with a throw of 17.66 (57-11.25) on his second attempt to take 27th overall. Charles reached a distance of 16.80 (55-1.50) on his second attempt to finish in 40th place. Rushton fouled on all three of his attempts.
Senior Nana Owusu-Nyantekyi finished his Princeton career in the triple jump placing 23rd. He found 15.17 (49-9.25) on his third attempt but he wouldn't be able to advance to get another attempt. Freshman Lane Russell jumped to 14.76 (48-5.25) on his third attempt to place 37th.
Senior Bradley Paternostro closed out his career in the Orange & Black with a great run in the 1500 quarterfinals. He advanced to today's race after posting a 3:45.69 in the prelims on Thursday. Paternostro ran 3:46.87 to finish ninth in his heat and 19th overall.
In the final event of the day, senior Mike Mazzaccaro ran the 5k. He was 10th in heat 1 and 24th overall at 14:27.77. At 3k a top pack of 10 broke away with Mazzaccaro in that lead group. With two laps remaining, he was in ninth and would hang in that same position through the finish.
Former Tiger Peter Callahan '13, finishing his eligibility at New Mexico, qualified for the second consecutive season in the 1500. He was fifth in the West Regional at 3:42.93.
As Regionals wraps up, Princeton will send two to the NCAA Championships: Stephen Soerens in the decathlon and Sam Pons in the 10k.
