Former Tigers Help USA Field Hockey to Pan Am Gold Medal

PRINCETON, N.J. – Former Princeton University field hockey standouts Julia Reinprecht and Katie Reinprecht recently helped the United States Senior National Team to a gold medal at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto, Canada.Helping Team USA to a 3-0 record in pool play, the duo combined for two goals and an assist. Finding the back of the net in the squad's opener against Uruguay, Katie Reinprecht also scored in a 12-0 triumph over Cuba. Julia Reinprecht picked up an assist in the victory.
In the quarterfinals against the Dominican Republic, Katie Reinprecht notched her third tally of the tournament, putting away a rebound in the second half to up the Americans' lead to 8-0. Setting the tone in a 2-1 win over Argentina in the gold medal game, Julia Reinprecht sent a pass across the goal mouth to Katie Reinprecht, who tapped home the game's first score.
With the victory over third-ranked Argentina, the United States defended its 2011 Pan Am title. Securing a win at their continental qualifier, Team USA confirmed their direct invitation to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
Former Princeton field hockey assistant coach Nate Franks '07 is also with Team USA serving as a performance analyst. Kathleen Sharkey, who competed alongside the Reinprechts at last month's FIH Women's World League Semifinals in Valencia, Spain, has been sidelined due to injury and will resume training with the national team later this summer.
