Gregoire Named Ivy League Women's Soccer Player of the Week
August 31, 2015 | Women's Soccer
No player in the Ivy League tallied more points than Princeton sophomore Vanessa Gregoire over the first weekend of play, and for her efforts, Gregoire has been named the Ivy Player of the Week for women's soccer.
Gregoire had a goal and an assist in a 6-0 win over Howard Friday night and assisted on both goals in a 2-1 win over Fordham Sunday afternoon. Her five points on the weekend were one better than Penn's Sasha Stevens, who was named the Ivy Rookie of the Week.
Gregoire was one of eight players who scored Princeton's eight goals on the weekend as the Tigers started 2-0 for the second time in three years.
Last season, Gregoire was a two-time Ivy Rookie of the Week. It's the first Ivy Player of the Week honor Princeton has won since Oct. 27 of last season, when Tyler Lussi earned the honor.
Princeton will hit the field again Thursday for a 5 p.m. start against Rutgers. Admission is free of charge, and for those who can't make it out to Roberts Stadium, the game will be televised on ESPNU.
