THE WEEK THAT WAS
• The Tigers opened up their 2015 campaign with a pair of losses to No. 2 North Carolina and No. 6 Virginia.
• Suffering a 5-2 loss to North Carolina, Princeton fell to Virginia in overtime, 4-3.
• Six different Tigers recorded a point over the weekend, with four Princeton players notching a goal.
• Outscored 5-1 in the first half through two games, the Tigers held a 4-3 scoring edge in the second period.
• Three of Princeton's five goals over the weekend came on penalty corners.
• Outshot 54-21 in two games, Tigers opponents currently hold a 15-13 edge in penalty corners.
• Outshot 31-4 in the first period of last weekend's games, Princeton fared better in the second half, posting a 17-13 shot advantage following the intermission.
• Dating back to last season, Princeton has played 12 one-goal games, going 5-7 in those contests with an 0-4 record in overtime.
STANDING TALL
• With a strong weekend showing, senior goalkeeper Anya Gersoff picked up Ivy League Co-Player of the Week and ECAC/Corvias Defensive Player of the Week honors.
• With Princeton outshot 26-6 against North Carolina, Gersoff set a new career-high with 14 saves.
• The following afternoon, Gersoff matched her benchmark with another 14-save effort.
• Stopping 28 of the 37 shots she faced against a pair of top-10 opponents, Gersoff posted a 0.757 save percentage.
• Last season, Gersoff set her previous career-high of 12 saves against Duke (Sept. 5, 2014) and Syracuse (Oct. 5, 2014).
• Making 35 appearances over the course of her career, Gersoff has posted a 16-17 overall record with a 0.698 save percentage.
WELCOME TO THE SHOW
• Making her collegiate debut over the weekend, Sophia Tornetta tallied two goals, an assist, and a pair of defensive saves en route to Ivy League Rookie of the Week laurels.
• Against UNC, Tornetta netted the Tigers' first score of the season in the 62nd minute, redirecting a Hailey Reeves shot off a corner into the back of the Tar Heels' cage.
• The following afternoon, Tornetta inserted a penalty corner in the 50th minute that resulted in a Cat Caro goal before successfully converting a penalty stroke at 60:21 to give Princeton a 3-2 lead over Virginia.
• Tornetta also made a pair of defensive saves in overtime against the Cavaliers.
• Tornetta was one of four freshman starters for Princeton last weekend, joining fellow rookies, Elizabeth George, Nicole Catalino, and Elise Wong.
• Wong recorded her first career points against Virginia, helping to set up a pair of Hailey Reeves and Caro goals off of penalty corners.
SERIES HISTORY BUCKNELL
• Princeton is 3-1 all-time against Bucknell, having outscored the Bison 10-0 over the course of the first three meetings before dropping a hard-fought 1-0 overtime decision last season.
• Winning the inaugural match-up in 1989, 1-0, Princeton secured a pair of 7-0 and 2-0 victories in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
LAST MEETING BUCKNELL
• Bucknell secured a 1-0 overtime decision over Princeton in 2014, recording its first-ever win over the Tigers.
• Despite holding a 10-7 shot advantage and 5-3 edge in corners, the Orange and Black surrendered the game winner to Amie Pritchard at 72:15.
• Anya Gersoff made a pair of saves for the Tigers in the loss, while Bucknell goalie Shannon Keen finished with seven stops.
SCOUTING BUCKNELL
• Carrying a 1-2 record into Saturday's showdown against Princeton, the Bison are coming off a 3-1 loss to No. 14 Penn State.
• Bucknell opened the year with a 3-1 loss to Rutgers and a 2-1 victory over Monmouth.
• The Bison have been outshot 42-21 over their first three games, with opponents holding a 17-9 edge in penalty corners.
• Anna Wills has a team-high four points on two goals. Kiersten Sydnor and Nicole Rupnik account for Bucknell's other two scores, while Emma Fitzgerald and Stephanie Dressler each have an assist.
• Shannon Keen has played all 210 minutes in net, posting a 2.33 goals-against-average and 0.667 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY DELAWARE
• Princeton is 12-12-3 all-time against Delaware with a 5-5-1 mark on the road.
• The teams batted to a pair of 0-0 and 1-1 decisions in 1973 and 1982, respectively, to open the series.
• Delaware earned a 3-2 victory in the first round of the 1982 NCAA tournament, kicking off a string of nine-consecutive wins over the Tigers.
• After battling the Blue Hens to a scoreless draw in 1991, Princeton earned its first-ever win over Delaware with a 2-1 decision in 1992.
• Beginning with the 1994 season, the Tigers ripped off a nine-game win streak of its own, culminating in a 5-1 triumph over Delaware in 2002.
• Princeton has won two of the last three meetings dating back to 2012, outscoring the Blue Hens 14-4 during that span. Delaware's lone win came last season in double-overtime, 2-1.
LAST MEETING DELAWARE
• Delaware outlasted Princeton in double-overtime last season, 2-1.
• The Tigers' Cat Caro set up Maddie Copeland for the game's first score at 10:55. Allie Mikelson netted the equalizer in the 52nd minute before Esmee Peet came up with the game winner at the 85:41 mark of the second extra session.
• Princeton finished with a 17-15 shot advantage, with each team earning seven penalty corners.
• Anya Gersoff made seven saves for the Tigers, while Emmeline Oltmans had seven stops.
SCOUTING DELAWARE
• Ranked 18th in the country, Delaware carries a 4-0 record into the weekend.
• The Blue Hens face Temple on Friday evening before playing host to the Tigers on Sunday.
• Off to its best start since 2007 (7-0), Delaware outscored opponents by a 22-5 margin over its first four games and enters the weekend ranked second in the nation in scoring average (5.5), scoring margin (+4.5), and points per game (15.5).
• Defeating Central Michigan in the opener, 10-3, the Blue Hens took care of Michigan State, 3-1, before dispatching of Fairfield (W, 4-1) and Cornell (W, 5-0).
• Thirteen different Delaware players recorded a point through its first four games, with nine different Blue Hens notching a goal.
• Lisa Giezeman leads the way with 11 points on five goals and an assist, while Jacki Coveleski (3G, 4A) and Esmee Peet (3G, 1A) have 10 and seven points, respectively.
• Emmeline Oltmans has played all 280 minutes in net so far this season, posting a 1.25 goals-against-average and a 0.706 save percentage.
