Lussi, Asom Repeat as Ivy Player, Rookie of the Week
September 28, 2015 | Women's Soccer
Princeton's first home win over Yale since 2003 has resulted in Ivy League weekly honors heading the Tigers' way.
Tyler Lussi had two goals and Mimi Asom had two assists in a 3-0 win over the Bulldogs Saturday, delivering the Tigers three points and putting Princeton atop the Ivy League standings along with Cornell and Harvard after the first weekend.
It's the second straight week Lussi and Asom earned the Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Week awards, though this week Asom shares the rookie honor with Brown goalie Christine Etzel, who had two overtime shutouts last week, including against Dartmouth Sunday.
Last week, Lussi and Asom were recognized when Lussi had three goals and an assist and Asom had two goals in wins over La Salle and 23rd-ranked William & Mary.
Princeton, which is on a four game winning streak in which it has outscored opponents 12-3, will make its longest trip of the Ivy League season Saturday to Dartmouth for a 7 p.m. start when Ivy League play resumes.
