Seniors Steven Cook and Henry Caruso co-led Princeton with 14 points apiece as the Tigers led by as many as 18 points on the way to a 71-55 win at Lafayette Wednesday night in the team's first win of the new campaign.
All three contests so far have been road games for the Tigers, who will have their home debut Friday at 5 p.m. against Rowan.
Sophomore Devin Cannady had three of the Tigers' 11 3-pointers on the way to 11 points, and Cook was 6 of 8 from the field on his way to co-leading the team in scoring. Princeton bolstered 50-percent shooting (29-58) from the field with a 36-25 rebounding edge.
Lafayette's last lead was at 26-25 with four minutes to go in the opening half, and Princeton closed the period on a 9-3 run to lead by five at the break. After Lafayette's Matt Klinewski, one of two Leopards in double figures (13 points) along with Nick Lindner (18), had the first basket after halftime, Princeton went on a 9-0 run, keeping Lafayette off the board for better than seven minutes. Princeton gained a double-digit lead on a 3-pointer by senior Spencer Weisz with 11 minutes to play and never led by fewer than 12 points after that.
